"This decision will lead to nuclear fallout!" Or... will it?

"If I make the wrong choice, it's the end of the world!" And so, we're often paralysed, unable to make a choice because it might be THE WRONG ONE.

But... maybe this choice you're facing isn't a "nuclear fallout" decision. It could just be a "pink smarties or green smarties" choice.

There are a LOT of choices that happen everyday, from "what colour socks should I wear today" - which is "pink or green smarties" level of choice, to "I've just been fired, what's my next step" - "nuclear fallout" level of choice. This having been said… most choices don't fall under the nuclear fallout category. They fall under simple "left or right", "pink or green". All choices are not created equal, and should not all take the same level of brain stress to decide.

Next time a choice comes your way - pause for just a small moment and look at it. Consider what's the worst thing that could happen if you make the "wrong choice". Will you end up maybe missing lunch, or walking around with orange socks whilst everyone has green? Or is there the chance of someone getting injured because you implemented the wrong safety protocol? Briefly - and honestly - check the worst-case scenario. See the situation as it is - not worse than it is. By viewing the problem as someone from the outside - realise how much or little energy should be devoted to this choice.

If you give every pink, green, or even blue smartie you choose the energy and space of a nuclear fallout, it's like crying wolf. When the real fallout arrives... you'll have nothing left to give. Learn to see if a choice you're making deserves the same energy as choosing smartie colours, or if it REALLY is an impending nuclear fallout.

Give smarties their due attention: eat them and move on. This choice in front of you - is it a smartie choice?
